It's about time 🌻
Today's Fun Fact: Time is relative. According to Albert Einstein, the rate at which time passes depends upon your frame of reference.
Hey, Ya'll! Welcome to Fun Fact Friday. My name is Eve and this is my week in writing. Grab your favorite beverage, and let's do a rap in time.
Today’s fun fact leads me to a question: Does time matter?
As I plot book three of the Revealed Book Series, I think about the elusiveness of time. We spend our lives reflecting on what we’ve lost and looking forward to what lies ahead, all while the clock ticks relentlessly.
Yet, life happens here, now. It’s a quandary, I know.
In book three, Revealed Fire, Maddie has a moment when she looks back on the last two years and wonders, Where has my life gone? What uncertain future is in front of me?
You can relate, right? I know I can. Sometimes, life seems to happen to me instead of through me. I read once that time is only a reflection of change. The sun is up; the sun is down. The moon is up; the moon is down. Every moment, a change occurs, pushing us forward while we look at our proverbial clocks, waiting for the next tick-to-tock. Hmm, I wonder, has the human construct of time hidden the true joy found in little moments of reflection?
Maddie sits on a patch of grass in despair, wondering how the tree above her can be so resilient in a world that marches to the beat of the chaotic drum of time. Her friend, Rachel, encourages her that a Kairos moment is coming that will change everything.Â
"What is a Kairos moment?" Maddie asks.
"A Kairos moment is a time, whether in a moment or a season, that an event will take place. We have a promise of a Kairos moment when Jesus will return."
Maddie often thinks about Jesus. What will it be like to stand before Him? Will she bow, jump in His arms, and thank Him for saving her? "What will it be like when He returns?" she asks her friend.
"Well, the Bible tells us that He will come on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. It'll be a moment unlike any other. Â And this Chronos time," Rachel waves her hands in the air as if to quantify time in minutes and hours as we know it, "this time that seems to control our lives will end."
"Is this the end of time that you and Grammy talk about?" Maddie asks.
Rachel smiles at her friend and says, "No, it's only the beginning."
What if we, like Rachel, lived knowing that the Kairos moment was coming?Â
So, back to my question:Â does time matter?Â
I like how Peter framed it for us, "With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
Peter's words lead me to believe that to God: Time = Souls that He is drawing near to Him.Â
What if I lived my life with this frame of reference: "God, who can I point to Jesus today?" Then, I would live expectantly for the Kairos moment while enjoying this Chronos moment as He loves through me.
Does time matter? If it means people will find Jesus, my answer is a resounding YES!
How about you? How do you see time? Does it beat like a chaotic drum, or do you experience the joy God has for you as you navigate each Chronos moment? I would love to hear your thoughts! Hit reply or leave a comment below and let me hear all about it.
