Pocket Prayers 🌻
Today's Fun Fact: Praying for friends and colleagues is a way to show love and support, especially when they're facing mountains that seem insurmountable—iron sharpens iron.
Have you ever sat in silence, wondering what to say to God? What is prayer, exactly?
Prayer is talking with God.
Prayer is drawing near to the One who formed you, knows you, and loves you very much.
Prayer is powerful.
Prayer is believing your Audience of One is listening and working.
Prayer gives comfort and peace.
We know these to be true, but have you considered how these apply to the creative collaborators in your life? Here are some helpful promises from God's Word:
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17 NIV
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV
"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." - John 17:20-21 NIV
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." - Ephesians 6:18 NIV
Do you see a pattern here? Strength, Unity, Encouragement. Being one with Jesus is to be one with each other. IRON SHARPENS IRON.
In today's letter, I wanted to share with my fabulous Revealed Tribe what I learned about prayer as I wrote Revealed Courage. Which is finished and UPLOADED BTW! 🙌🏻
I pray my journey is as encouraging for you as it was for me.
In week 40 of our journey, I shared my great gratitude for my Tribe. Half a year later, we are all celebrating. Not only the personal growth the Lord has provided, but the multiplication He has brought to life within the group itself.
It's been beautiful to watch!
When I look back on the past year, I see the fingerprints of God on each woman who took a leap of faith and stepped into her Jordan River. But there is something else that I see: A line of Aaron's and Hur's standing behind her in prayer.
As scripture has informed us, prayer is a critical thread in our relationships, both personally and corporately. When we pray, we are surrendering our heart, our friends and family, our work, and our art to the Lord. And we all know that nothing is Impossible for El Shaddai—Almighty God!
Here are five revelations the Lord gave me as I wrote Revealed Courage.
Make a list of those in your circle whom God has placed on your heart. Place them in your pocket: On your phone, or in a handy pocket journal, so they will be with you wherever you go.
Periodically, ask them how you can pray for them. If they don't know, ask what they are working on and pray for that.
As the Holy Spirit prompts, listen and pray what you hear.
As you pray for them, send them a text with the prayer. Voice memos and/or audio text messages work great! This is encouraging to the burdened heart. Remember IRON SHARPENS IRON!
Follow up with them and praise God with them for answered prayer!
Then watch God move as HOPE IS REVEALED!

Pray with me
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:9-13 NIV
Father, may we draw near to You as You draw near to us. Unite us as One, just as Jesus asked in the Garden. We thank You for the gift of prayer. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen.
