The Creative's Rest 🌻
Today's Fun Fact: Creative rest is all about providing your mind with new experiences that inspire you and reawaken your sense of wonder.
Today’s fun fact is on behalf of Pearpod. Creative rest replenishes your ability to imagine new ideas and increases your problem-solving capacity.
Who knew that inspiration for the creative serves as rest?

When writing becomes difficult. When the flow stops flowing, it’s time to be inspired. Some of my favorite things to do:
Go outside for a walk. A walk stimulates the brain, clears mental blocks, and generates new ideas. I like to invite Jesus on my walk and talk to Him about anything that I feel “stuck” in.
Engage the senses. Whether it’s placing my feet in the ocean, listening to the soft rhythmic tapping of rain, or feeling the soft petals of a flower on my cheek, there is nothing like allowing the senses to invigorate my writing. In fact, for impactful scenes, I do my best to incorporate all five senses: What did she feel? Hear? See? Touch? Taste?
Have you ever looked deeply into a flower’s bloom? Just as we have fingerprints unique to us, so a flower has markings that make it unique, even within its species. When I study the shape, color, and innermost part of the flower, my creativity is stimulated. Science calls this a release of good hormones, which boost happiness and reduce stress. I call this aligning with the joy of the Creator.
Take one day off a week. I know, this is hard, especially when you have a deadline! But it is so important to allow your brain a day to rest and rejuvenate. I will spend the day in worship, reading, and spending time with the fam.
How do you rest and replenish your creativity? Leave me a comment and let me know!
Pray with me
Father God, we thank You for rest. Thank You for exemplifying rest when You created for six days and rested for one. Lord, I pray You will help us to prioritize rest. When our wheels are spinning or we feel stuck, remind us that inspiration is only a walk away. When we experience difficulty creating, help us to engage our senses so we can see You in the midst of our creation. May we choose to take one day a week and rest. The work will be there tomorrow, but today, we need to rest.
Father, I lift the person joining me in this prayer. Please bless. them and keep them. Walk with them through the beautiful garden of life that you have placed before them. May they find Your sacred rest and be rejuvenated for everything that You place in their hands. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

I take my Sabbath rest and get a lot of reading 📚
